"The second set of glassware arrived last Saturday (too much snow for them to get off the highway until Saturda). The goblets look great and I shipped them off to California yesterday. The first set was for my wife and they brought a tear to her eye, thank you. Your work is great and I am sure that over time we will be doing more business. Thank you for making Christmas special for my wife and a good friends and his wife!" -- Colorado

In the 16th century, glassmakers in Murano developed an exceptionally clear and colorless glass they called "crystalline"; and Venetian glass and the Italian style of glass-making became famous throughout the world. The Bormioli family has been very much a part of that long and proud tradition of Italian glass-making.

In 1946, Luigi Bormioli struck out on his own to start a glassworks in Parma, with the intention of bringing together highly skilled people, cotinuous technological improvement and the finest of raw materials to create quality stemware, tumblers and tableware, as well as bottles for the booming post-war perfume industry. Today, his eponymous company is a world leader in using advanced technology to produce highly transparent and colorless glass products with the smooth, clean edges that were heretofore the exclusive provenance of old-world, mouth-blown crystal.

The Michelangelo collection is a perfect example of Luigi Bormioli's ability to create high-quality crystal products priced for everyday use. Each piece is blown crystal--not molded--from the purest lead-free crystal silica. A laser is used in the finishing stages to smooth the rims.

Here, at Imperial Crystal, our own artisans then use a combination of computer technology, to prepare the artwork and films used for engraving, and traditional methods to deep-etch each piece, personalized just for you.
